Susan F. Zinder Biography
Her unusually diverse legal experience makes her a valued advisor in a broad range of circumstances ranging, from daily operations to governance; from corporate compliance to negotiation and closing of transactions; from the acquisition of information technology to corporate financing; from strategic decision-making advice to the preparation of routine policies and procedures; from advising startups on their healthcare law strategies and processes to helping established non-profits preserve their missions.
Susan has gained intimate familiarity with the factors that contribute to success and failure in complex not-for-profit and healthcare organizations through extensive work while serving as in-house counsel to several healthcare organizations. In these roles, she spent countless hours listening to and advising governing boards and senior management teams, giving her a unique understanding of the current challenges facing healthcare non-profit entities as they strive to provide service to their communities through the fulfillment of their mission.
Throughout her career, has advised her client teams on everything from strategic contracts and affiliations, to responding to regulatory citations, implementing plans of correction and developing a culture of compliance and quality. She has led the negotiation and implementation of numerous IT contracts, systems and procedures for a variety of enterprise-wide and departmental mission-critical purposes. Additionally, she has worked on employment contracts and professional services agreements for healthcare executives and providers. Her guidance has strengthened her clients’ governing boards functioning and their governance and compliance policies and practices. Corporate compliance has been a recurring theme in Susan’s legal career, and she has helped her clients build cultures of compliance while enhancing business effectiveness.
Susan also has first-hand experience with legal and business issues impacting start-ups, having served as general counsel for an innovator in online medical billing.
Susan began her career at a major national firm as a corporate/banking associate where she represented lenders in a variety of transactions, assisted borrowers in meeting their strategic financing needs through both taxable and tax-exempt means, and aided in the development and implementation of lenders’ Community Reinvestment Act plans.
